HOTT Sauna was founded by Simon and Jens, two engineers in construction and product design who share a passion for developing products that truly work and that people love to use. Our story does not begin with a business plan. It begins with a tent sauna on a mountain and a view that would leave anyone speechless.

It was there, somewhere between the first sauna and the third cold beer, that it struck us: bathing in a sauna out in nature is one of the most powerful experiences one can have. But the equipment? It left much to be desired...

We saw an industry that had fallen asleep

We tried everything. We flew helicopters to remote places, combined fishing adventures with sauna sessions, and took portable saunas on every trip we could. And the more we tried, the clearer the picture became: the industry had stagnated. Everyone was doing the same thing. The same solutions. The same compromises. No one seemed to ask themselves "how should this really be?"

As engineers, we couldn’t let go of that question. We live for product development and usability. We are driven by the feeling when something just works – when every detail has a purpose. And we knew the tent sauna had enormous untapped potential.

So we decided: we would not make another copy of what already existed. We would start from scratch.

We innovate. We do not follow.

Everything we do at HOTT begins with a question: can this be done better? That has led us to solutions no one else has thought of.

We were first with carrying bags for both tents and stoves – because a sauna you can’t carry with you isn’t truly portable. We designed the Magic Hatch – a well-thought-out flap in the tent wall that lets you grab a cold drink, electronics, or a towel without opening the whole sauna and losing heat. It sounds like small things. But often it’s the details that make all the difference.

And then the view. This is perhaps what defines HOTT more than anything else. We thought it was absurd to sit in a portable sauna in the middle of the world’s most beautiful nature and stare straight into a wall or have the window behind you. Our panoramic windows change the whole experience. You’re not just sitting in a sauna. You’re sitting in nature. You see the sun set behind the mountains, the mist lifting over the lake, the snow falling outside. The sauna becomes part of the place, not a barrier from it.

It’s about the feeling. Always the feeling.

We are not done. We will never be done. Every product we release is the result of countless hours of testing, iteration, and pure stubbornness. We question everything, think for ourselves, and never back down from an idea just because ‘that’s how it’s always been done.’
